Google releases Chrome extension to reverse its fix for 'backspace' key

You probably didn't know it but Google Chrome users have been fiercely divided over the function of the backspace key. Now Google is looking to make peace with a new Chrome extension.

Before we get to the extension itself, a bit of backstory: prior to a recent Chrome update, hitting the backspace key would navigate you back within your browser. This was either the most infuriating shortcut ever or the best shortcut ever, depending on who you asked.

The first group, however, ultimately won out with Google removing the feature as "many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page."
